I just went to the shops to buy a big bag of apples (I think I got 27) and a bunch of other things. Normally when I go to the shops, I don’t buy enough things to need a trolley around the shop or plastic bags to take it home, but to-day I needed both a trolley AND plastic bags. Anyway, I got the things and paid for them. (20% off the shops own brand cereal since we have a shop credit card!)
I headed out of the shop and over to where there was a moving walkway ramp to go down to the car park. The ramp wasn’t working, but that was alright, because I had just remembered that it was an up ramp and I needed to go down. I left the trolley and picked up the bags and started heading down the ramp. As soon as I got on the ramp, it started moving; the WRONG way! Now, I could either turn around and go another way back to the car park (stairs or lift), or I could try to outrun the ramp.
I tried to outrun the ramp.
Fortunately it worked although it did seem to get quicker as I got to the bottom.
I expect anyone who saw me thought, “Look at that yahoo being daft and going the wrong way on the moving walkway.” It’s the kind of thing that I think when I see ‘yoofs’ going the wrong way on escalators!
