We ordered some Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream from a local on-line shop because they were having a buy 2 get 1 free offer.  When the ice-cream arrived it was completely defrosted.  Slightly annoyed, we called up the shop and told them about this.  They said that they would send someone round the following day with replacement ice-cream and they would also pick up the old ice-cream.

The following day, someone came with 3 new pots of ice-cream and took away the old ice-cream.  By the time we opened the new ice-cream, the delivery man had already gone and when we opened up, the ice-cream was once again completely defrosted.

The following day, we called the shop again to complain and they said that someone would come round to collect the ice-cream later that day.  No-one came.  A couple of days later, the ice-cream still hadn’t been collected and was just taking up space in our freezer so we called the shop again!  They said that we should just throw the ice-cream out and we’ll get the refund on our next bill!

We’re pretty sure that there is nothing wrong with eating ice-cream that has defrosted, it just won’t have the right texture.

So there you go.  Free ice-cream (if you don’t mind a bit of hassle when you get it).
