I am 3 in August
To-day is very exciting because to-day is August. And I know what happens in August, because I have been telling people for a long time that I am 3 in August. So in case you hadn’t guessed it, I am 3. It’s August you see. Because I am 3, I thought that I should let you know what I have been doing since I was 2. It’s all a bit fuzzy ‘cos it was quite a long time ago, but I will try.
First of all, I had a little sister. She’s called Shira. She is very funny. I like to play with her. We go on the see-saw together. She’s not very heavy though, so mummy and daddy have to help her be heavier. She was a baby just before I was 2. I remember that grandma and grandad were around when I was 2. I didn’t see them for a long time though. I didn’t say much when I was 2, but I have been practising lots and can now say lots of things. I can make mummy and daddy very frustrated when I say ‘no’ to them all the time. I sometimes say yes lots, but it’s most fun when I say ‘no’. Mummy says that I get into a state of NO. When I get there, I only ever say ‘no’. Even when she asks if I’m in a state of NO I say ‘no’. I think that really annoys mummy
I have been praciticing all of the things that I could do for the last year, but I have also grown up and bit and don’t do some of the silly things that I did when I was 2. I have been practising walking. I was quite good already, but now I can almost run properly and I can jump lots and I can walk up and down stairs without holding onto the side. Mummy and daddy say that I should still hold onto the side because they don’t want me to fall over. I’ve never fallen on the stairs so I don’t know why they worry. I think it’s a mummy and daddy thing to do.
I have been expanding my repertoire of pictures that I can make. I can do glueings, I can do painting, I can draw with crayons, felt-tip pens and chalks. I have also been learning to write. Mummy and daddy have been writing my name out in big letters and I have been drawing over the top of the letters. I’m getting quite good at it, but I haven’t done it for a while. I’m not sure if I’ve forgotten how to do it now. Maybe I will do it again soon.
I have also been doing puzzles and jigsaws. Mummy and daddy have got me quite a lot of puzzles and jigsaws to do. At first they were quite difficult because I didn’t know what I was meant to do with them, but as I do them more and more, I’ve been getting very good at doing them. I can do them quickly now.
Mummy and daddy also bought me some blocks to build with. I can make lots of things. Mummy is very good at making animals. She even made a helicopter the other day. I can make lots of things with my blocks and my letters. I can make a cot for baby with a blanket on top. I also made a table with lots of chairs around it. I’m very good at making things.
This year we also went on lots of holidays. We went on a long journey on an aeroplane. We went to see grandma and grandad, and then to see grandma and grandpa, and then back and forth between the two. All the travelling made me quite sick. I was not happy when I was sick, it’s not nice. All my grandparents were so excited to see me and I also got to meet my great grandmas as well. They like me lots. I played with cousin Alex and chased him around the house. I finally caught him and gave him a big kiss. That was fun. I got lots of new toys as well. I liked Shira’s toy the best though, it was an elephant and it played tunes and things. It was a good toy. Eventually we came home. It was quite a tiring holiday. Not long after that grandma and grandad came to visit and we went on another holiday. We stayed in a holiday hotel and had a holiday car as well. It was blue! I liked the holiday car. I went in it with daddy and grandad. Mummy and grandma and Shira went in our grey car. I was in the blue car. It was shiny and blue. Then that holiday was finished as well. But then grandma and grandpa came to visit and we went on another holiday. We stayed in another holiday hotel. It was lots of fun. On all of my holidays, I got to watch lots of telly which is lots of fun because mummy and daddy never let me watch any telly.
Things that I don’t do anymore: I don’t do my yum dance when I eat nice food (that’s just for babies). I don’t have so many screaming fits at mummy and daddy because I’m a big girl now and I can tell them why I’m upset sometimes. I don’t wear nappies during the day anymore, I go to the toilet like a big girl. I don’t always sit in a high chair to eat because I’m a big girl.
Probably the best thing that has happened this year is that mummy and daddy have found the most wonderful food in the shops. It’s called ‘ice-cream’. I can’t believe they never found this before, because it’s soooooo yummy. I sometimes think about resurrecting the yum dance just for it. It comes in lots of different colours and it’s all really really yummy. I think there might be something fishy going on though, because I know that we keep buying it when I go shopping with mummy, but we never seem to eat as much as there should be in the tub. I think that maybe mummy and daddy are eating it at night when I have gone to bed.
In the last week or two grandma has been teaching me to do somersaults. I’m really good at them now. I get a bit confused though ‘cos daddy keeps calling them roly-polys. I don’t know why and I’m not sure what a roly-poly is. I think it sounds quite tasty though.
Speaking of which, it’s been a long day after a long year so I’m off to bed now.
