Where does all the dirt go?
I was hoovering the carpet this afternoon and I didn’t think that the hoover was working very well. In the past the solution has been to open the hoover and empty out the dirt (we have one of those bagless ones, not a Dyson mind ‘cos we still have filters unlike them). I often also take out the filters and give them a good bang to clean them up. Then shock! Horror! I dropped a bit of the hoover. It’s a bit that I normally just clean the outside of to get rid of the dust, but didn’t think you could do much with it other than that. It turns out that this thing is the main filtery bit of our hoover! Several more bangs (maybe even 20) and I had managed to empty most of the dirt out of this bit. Put the hoover back together and hey presto, it suddenly works a lot better. So, if you’re ever wondering where the dirt goes in some cleaning type object, it doesn’t just disappear, there’s probably a bit inside the thing that is storing all the dirt up for later when you are about to go out in all your Sunday finery and at that moment it decides that it’s time to eject it. You have been warned!
