The man came to look at the car and said that the battery was dead. He said to take it to an auto-electrician and get it charged up for about an hour and then it would be fine. We took it to the electric chap and he said “Ooh, you’ll need to leave it overnight”. We asked why and he just said that that’s how long it takes. He said that at a minimum you would need to do it for 5 hours! Anyway, in parallel, we’d called the dealership and asked what was going on and why the battery should be dead after only 2 weeks of inactivity. They said that just a coupld of decent journeys should sort it out. So we took that option and have gone out 3 times to-day now for 2 1/2 hours in total. However, the indicator on the battery still says it needs charging! The worst part is that the hazard warning lights are continually randomly coming on when we’re driving the car. We’re meant to be staying with friends this weekend so hopefully the car will work fine.
